Description

Description

A 4×8 Utility Trailer is a great size – perfect for odd jobs or for hauling for a motorcycle.  This 3500 lbs capacity is rugged and built to haul a lot of stuff – yet, the 4ft width also makes it easy to tow and maneuver.  Recommended for towing behind a full or mid-sized vehicle.  (See your vehicle specs).

Benefits to the size make it lighter and easier to store!  But a warning, it’s a great trailer, so your buddies may beg to borrow it.

This is a tough trailer.  With fully engineered plans, this trailer design is tough as a flatbed.  While sides are in the options, you don’t need them for strength.  Speaking of which, there are a  bunch of options!

Plans include easy to follow, illustrated instructions – including a parts list, suggested places to purchase the components, and construction options.  The pictures here and above, show some of the many options.  More are in the blueprints.  Use the ones you like, or substitute ideas of your own.

Options Available in the 4x6 Utility Trailer Plans
This is the 4′ x 6′ shown.  The 4×8 Utility Trailer has the same options, it’s just a little longer.

If you need plans for a small size, very tough utility trailer, look no further.  Build it the way you want it.

We have alternate sizes — like 4×8-2000# or 5×8-3500# — if that works better.
If you prefer a torsion axle on this 4×8 utility trailer, we have plans for that too.

More About The Design Features

More About The Design Features

Design options maximize utility and usefulness to offer trailer customizing for your particular needs.  The base trailer is a flat bed, but things like sides, a top, or tailgate are easy additions.  Then add extras like a motorcycle stand, a ramp, tie-down bars, and toolbox mounting (also in the plans) for the perfect 4×8 utility trailer.

More About The Design Features

  • Trailer bed size is slightly larger than 4 ft. wide x 8 ft. long, so that it will accommodate full 4×8 sheet goods laying flat.
  • Creates a better paradigm — trailer measurements based on the cargo to carry rather than the outside dimensions.
  • Overall length including the tongue is ~147 inches.  (Will vary with options.)
  • Trailer bed height depends on your choice of options — from 18 inches up.  (Bed height shown is ~19″ with drop axle.)
  • This 4×8 utility trailer has a Max capacity of 3500 lbs.* including the trailer.
  • Also, check out the Mechanic’s construction tips and advice to get your trailer built perfect.
