Description

Description

These 5×10 Utility Trailer Plans make a great trailer for all kinds of jobs.  From weekend yard work , to moving duties, to taking ATV’s or motorcycles out, this trailer will do it.

The design is strong with Rectangular Tube, C-Channel, and Angle.  It is strong as a flatbed, or add sides for more function – but sides are not necessary for strength.

Options on 5x10 Utility Trailer PlansPlans have the blueprints, of course, plus instructions, parts and materials lists.  They also include a LOT of options.  (The animated picture shows some of the options that come with these 5×10 utility trailer plans.)

Options help you customize the work – for both function and looks.  Additions like sides (several options), a top, or tailgate are easy.  A motorcycle stand, a ramp, a toolbox, and many tie-down points are in the plans.  But don’t limit it to the options we show.  Choose from what we give, then customize it to fit you perfect.

At Mechanical Elements, we encourage customization and personalization.  That’s why we include the extras and the options — so you can choose, then build it perfect for you.

We have alternate sizes — like 5×8 or 6×10 — if that works better.
If you prefer a torsion axle on this 5×10, we have plans for that too.

More About The Design Features

More About The Design Features

You can build a utility trailer that’s perfect for you.  Use these plans for a great start.

The flatbed is the base trailer, and it will handle the loads even without adding sides or other things for stiffness.  Options are up to you.  Though the plans show many, you choose the design.  Look at the images around this page to see some of the many options available.  While these are nice, we also encourage you to add your own and make the trailer uniquely yours.

5x10 Utility Trailer Plans and Options
Here are some options available with the 5×10 Utility Trailer Plans.  The ramp stores under the trailer deck as seen in a previous image.  Of course, all these options are in the plans.
  • Trailer bed size is slightly larger than 5 ft. wide x 10 ft. long.  62″ Width, 123″ Length edge to edge.
  • Overall length including the tongue is ~174 inches.  (May vary with options.)
  • Deck height will depend on design options chosen and can range from 17 inches up.  (Bed height shown is ~19″.)
  • Max capacity for the 5×10 utility trailer (depending on options) is 3500 lbs.* (which includes the trailer weight).
  • For more information about building a trailer, please see the Mechanic’s construction tips and advice.

If you are looking for something with a little more or less:  The 6×10 Blueprints offer a little more space.  Or, the 5×8 Blueprints are a little shorter.  If you’re seeking a Torsion Axle:  We have those plans too — like the 5×10 torsion axle utility trailer plans.

Build your own utility trailer starting with these fully engineered plans.
