Description

Description

An even heavier version of our industrial trailer plans.  This is a relatively small (16′ length deck) trailer, made for a full 16,000 lbs total capacity.

8K axles tend to be another level of complication, so we split this out from our similar 14K version.  As you expect, these plans include full engineering so you can build with confidence.  This is our biggest, strongest, beefiest utility trailer, and the design is very tough for continual heavy duty use.

The engineering is similar to the 14K flatbed trailer from the other plans.  Options are also quite similar.  This one sets by itself because of the extreme capacity.  The deck is a little narrower to make room for the high capacity axles, and everything is just a little stronger for the bigger axles.

Make the trailer perfect for you by including any of the options in the plans.  Things like length, total capacity, various sides and gates and ramps are all options.  We also include the option for straight or drop axles – yes, 8K drop axles if you want.  We made space for them.  It is all part of the design and engineering.

We design the industrial trailer plans for strength, then give you a bunch of options to choose.  Build it the way you want it – with confidence.

Images on this page show several of the options you can choose for this trailer.  The base is a very strong flatbed trailer, then there are many variations you can build to enhance the trailer functions.  Choose the options you like, then discard the rest.  Make the trailer exactly the way you want it.

Plans With Base Flatbed Trailer

  • * Trailers built from these industrial trailer plans have an actual bed width dependent on the axles.  The wheels have a hub-face distance of 95″, then make the main beams fit the spring center distance of the axles you choose.  Typically 6 feet 8 inches, or 6 feet 6 inches, and bed length of 16 feet 3.5 inches including the steel frame.
  • Overall length including the tongue is approximately 246 inches, though that will vary some with options chosen.
  • While actual trailer bed height will depend on design options chosen, typical choices will range from 20″ up. (Bed height shown is ~23″ using drop axles.)
  • Stated max load capacity of 16,000 lbs includes the trailer weight, and everything on it.
  • Trailer weight will vary depending on design options.  A base flatbed trailer plans is ~1700+ lbs without the deck, something in the range of 1900-2100 lbs with decking.  All the other options will change the weight too.
  • Lots of options are in the plans.  Things like sides, a tailgate, a mounted toolbox, ramps, motorcycle stands, etc. are there for optional functionality.  Some options are mutually exclusive.  Not all options are in the pictures here.

While the base design is the flatbed trailer plans, we know options rule.  Build the trailer to meet your needs.
